Why We Print Books
So, you want to know why we print books?
Being able to help other people realize their dreams is such an amazing thing. The first time we printed a self-published book for an author, I felt elated. She was overcoming a huge roadblock to success: getting her book in print. Of course, that doesn't mean the work is over as she still has to market it in earnest, but her words now have life. They are in print. It's a delightful feeling.
It is one of the main reasons we went into this business. The other, of course, is to make money, which is no surprise.
I know what it is like to not get a book published. I have two books which I believe are good enough to have been accepted for publication by one of the major publishing houses (yes, of course I think they are that good), but no one has given them more than a cursory nod. So, I'm going the next best route and publishing them myself. Self-publishing is such an awesome avenue for authors who want to see their words in print. Not only do you keep control over your material, but you earn considerably more money since you get to keep all the profits.
One of my books is sold as an e-book on line as well as in a printed version. If I do any public speaking, I take copies of the printed version with me to lend credibility to my expertise as well as potentially sell them.
What are your goals?
Earning a royalty from a book publishing company is fine, but it does not generate a lot of money. You have to sell considerably more books to earn as much as you otherwise would as a self-published author. When you work with a publishing house, you also have little say in how your book is edited and/or marketed. What if the company doesn't bankroll it properly? You may have a published book, but you don't reap many of the rewards, like earning income. That's one of the reasons why we print books - to offer you more choices for publishing your written works.
If you do go the route of self-publishing, you will need to consider a solid marketing plan. You'll be doing the same basic things you would if your book was published by a large publishing company, but you'll have to make the arrangements yourself. At least you have control over this, too. We offer some assistance on this site for marketing your book. Take advantage of this free information even if you don't use us for your printing needs.
Now you know why we print books. We truly want to help authors achieve their dreams while making our own dreams come true, too.
